The Tories have suffered their worst ever General Election result. The most shameful, malevolent, incompetent and villainous government in UK history has at long last been thrown out of office after 14 years of deplorable destruction. There will be time enough for analysis in the future, for now it is enough to celebrate and revel in the Conservative Party’s deserved downfall, as well as offer genuine congratulations and gratitude to Keir Starmer and his team for this stunning victory.

From a Welsh perspective, it is just fabulous to look at the new electoral map of constituencies without a trace of blue.

Wales is Tory-free again! Our extraordinary and unique record of never having given the Conservatives a mandate continues, despite the bombardment of rightwing propaganda we must endure from cradle to grave. This abiding, innate egalitarianism runs through our bone-marrow. It will be our greatest defence in the struggles that lie ahead. Iechyd da!
