Hello Dic, I am a researcher with the British Transport Police History Group. I live in Cardiff. I have your A-Z of Cardiff book and was interested to read about the murder of five year old Joyce Cox on a railway embankment at Coryton in 1939. The item ends with an intriguing sentence about the police not willing to release their file. I have done some BNA research to get the background. Do you know any more than is in the book?
Apparently a cousin of Joyce’s has discovered that the Met Police, who were drafted in to help in the original enquiry and for some reason retain the file, have stated they are not prepared to release the documents until 2040. Incidentally, ‘Cardiff Killings’ on this blog is a much superior and regularly updated version of the chapter in A-Z of Cardiff you refer to (‘X-Certificate’).
